TCS Welcomes 6,071 New Employees in Q1, Total Headcount Reaches 613,069

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has expanded its workforce by adding 6,071 new employees during the first quarter of fiscal year 2026 (Q1 FY26). This brings the company’s total headcount to an impressive 613,069.

Attrition Rate Inches Upward

While TCS continues to grow its talent pool, the company also experienced a slight uptick in its attrition rate. The last twelve-month attrition rate rose to 13.8% in Q1 FY26, compared to 13.3% in the previous quarter. This indicates a slightly higher rate of employees leaving the company.

Balancing Growth and Retention

The simultaneous growth in headcount and attrition highlights the challenges faced by major IT companies like TCS in balancing talent acquisition and retention in a competitive market. The company’s efforts to attract new talent are evident in the significant number of new hires, but the rising attrition suggests ongoing efforts are needed to retain existing employees.
