Rare Interstellar Visitor: Comet 3I/Atlas Spotted by NASA

Exciting news from the cosmos! NASA’s ATLAS telescope in Chile has discovered a rare interstellar comet, officially designated 3I/Atlas. Currently located 4.5 astronomical units (AU) from the Sun – that’s 4.5 times the distance between Earth and the Sun – this icy wanderer is only the third interstellar object ever observed in our solar system.

Following in the Footsteps of Oumuamua and Borisov

3I/Atlas follows in the cosmic footsteps of two other interstellar visitors: the mysterious Oumuamua and comet 2I/Borisov. No Cause for Alarm: Comet Poses No Threat
