Delhi Crime Sees Significant Drop in First Half of 2025
Delhi residents can breathe a little easier. The city has experienced a notable decrease in crime during the first six months of 2025, according to a report card released by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. The report highlights an overall 8.38% reduction in registered criminal cases compared to the same period in 2024. This positive trend follows the BJP’s assumption of administrative control in the capital.
Serious Offenses Show Decline, Enhanced Surveillance Plays Key Role
The drop in crime isn’t limited to petty offenses. Serious crimes, including robbery and kidnapping, have also seen a significant decrease. The BJP government credits enhanced surveillance measures for this improvement, suggesting that increased monitoring has played a crucial role in deterring criminals and improving public safety.
Rape and POSCO Cases Also Down 10%
In a particularly encouraging development, the report indicates a 10% reduction in both rape and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) cases. This, coupled with a decline in street crimes and burglaries, paints a picture of improved safety and security across the city. The report suggests these improvements are a direct result of the government’s focused efforts on enhancing law enforcement and public safety measures.
