LA Tunnel Collapse: Dramatic Rescue of 31 Workers, Search Continues
A harrowing scene unfolded in Wilmington, Los Angeles, as a wastewater tunnel under construction partially collapsed, trapping workers inside. Thanks to the swift action of the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), 31 workers were dramatically rescued from the tunnel located on North Figueroa Street.
Rescue Operation Underway
Over 100 LAFD personnel, including specialized Urban Search and Rescue teams, rushed to the scene on North Figueroa Street, the sole access point to the tunnel. The collapse occurred several miles inside the tunnel, making the rescue operation even more challenging. While 31 workers were successfully brought to safety, authorities are continuing their efforts.
