Ahmedabad Boeing 787 Crash: No Immediate Action for Boeing or GE

The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has released its preliminary report on the tragic crash of flight AI-171 in Ahmedabad. The report states that, for now, no specific actions or recommendations are being issued for operators of the Boeing 787-8 aircraft or the GE GEnx-1B engines that powered the aircraft.

Investigation Still Underway, International Collaboration Key

The investigation into the crash is still actively underway, with data analysis being a primary focus. The AAIB is collaborating with several international agencies, including the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Boeing, GE, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and officials from the UK, ensuring a thorough and comprehensive investigation.

Early Speculation Addressed, No FAA Directive Yet

Early media reports suggested potential issues related to the fuel control switch. However, the AAIB’s preliminary findings do not confirm this speculation. Importantly, the FAA has not issued any airworthiness directives related to the incident, providing some relief to Boeing as the investigation continues.
