Arunachal Pradesh Mob Violence: Migrant Worker Accused of Assault Dies

A tragic incident unfolded in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Dibang Valley district where a 19-year-old migrant worker, accused of sexually assaulting multiple young girls, lost his life after being dragged from the Roing police station by an enraged mob on Friday.

Allegations and Mob Justice

The young man was accused of assaulting seven minors between the ages of six and nine. After a search, he was apprehended and handed over to the police. However, before a proper legal process could begin, a mob stormed the police station, forcibly removed him from custody, and subjected him to violence, ultimately leading to his death.

Concerns Over Law and Order

This incident raises serious concerns about the breakdown of law and order and the prevalence of mob justice. While the accusations against the migrant worker were grave, the community’s response bypassed the legal system, denying him due process and ultimately resulting in his death. The incident highlights the need for stronger safeguards to protect individuals in police custody and prevent such acts of violence.
